As I write this, nearing the end of 2021, oat milk is a big craze.
And whatβs more, oat milk and coffee.
We have oat milk as creamer, oat milk lattes, oat milk cappuccinos, oat milk cortados, and basically oat milk everything.
We could practically say that oat milk is the new soy.

And let me just say right up front, Iβm not bashing on oat milk.
I actually love the taste of it, aside from the fact that itβs a healthy type of βmilkβ that makes a really nice tasting latte or other espresso beverages.
So read on to find out why itβs popular, why I like it, and to see the best deals on the best brands!
Why Is Oat Milk So Popular, And Good!?
I think there are a few main reasons why oat milk is so popular now, and especially oat milk lattes.
These reasons are the ones that Iβve just stated above: it tastes great, itβs healthy, and it foams well for lattes.
If weβre honest, the plant-based, lactose-free milks that are trendy are ever-evolving.
And thereβs nothing wrong with that, it just means that thereβs always a newer, healthier and more delicious plant-based milk being discovered and trending.
Soy was in for a long time.
Now it seems that oat milk is the big man on campus.
It tastes great because it has a nice texture, and it has a great creamy semi-sweet taste that really does compliment espresso or coffee quite nicely.
I can sometimes be hard to please when it comes to plant-based milks, but oat milk is honestly really good.
Some of the health benefits of it are that itβs very high in fiber, specifically beta glucan, a type of soluble fiber thatβs found in oats that may help lower cholesterol.
It also has many vitamins and is good for bone health.
Oat milk holds its own in protein, at about 3 grams per cup.
Itβs slightly higher in sugar than many other plant-based milks, at about 6 grams per cup, due to the fact that oats naturally are a source of carbohydrates.
Some Great Options
Whether youβre into fancy, flavored lattes made with oat milk from your favorite coffee shop, or youβre taking the more healthy, less expensive route of making plain olβ brewed coffee at home and just putting some oat milk in it as creamer, itβs certainly a nice pairing with coffee.
And when it comes to other plant-based milks like almond milk and soy milk, which by the way are the other most popular milks to make coffee or espresso beverages with, they have their own health benefits compared to oat milk.
Even cow milk has its own health benefits.
But of course, there are many people who steer clear of dairy milk because they canβt drink it for various reasons.
But not only is oat milk a great option for its health benefits, it just gives coffee or espresso a really nice body and feel to it.
So if youβre looking for some good recommendations for oat milk, here are the top onesβ¦

Iβve written about Califia Farmsβ dairy-free almond milk creamer in this article, and now Iβm recommending another fantastic product from this great company.
If itβs oat milk blended with either coffee or espresso to create a sublime coffee with creamer, or latte, or any other espresso/coffee and oat milk beverage with amazing texture and taste that youβre longing for, let me just say that Califia Farms Barista Blend oat milk is the way to go.
This stuff is actually crafted with baristas or just coffee lovers in mind.
It steams beautifully, pours like a pro, works perfectly for latte art, is no sugar added, has all real ingredients, and pairs perfectly with coffee or tastes delicious just by itself.
Itβs basically amazing as either milk or creamer, take your pick and enjoy.
This oat milk is also made from North American grown, whole rolled, gluten-free oats.

The Bottom Line
The bottom line is that oat milk is pretty great.
It tastes really good, it has good nutrients and health benefits, and itβs just a very nice option to go with coffee or espresso.
Itβs also pretty trendy at the moment, which isnβt good or bad, but that shouldnβt deter you or make you want want it more necessarily.
And just as a side note, oat milk even just by itself without coffee is also pretty great.
You can also use oat milk for so many other things aside from coffee.
You can use it for cereal, add it to your oatmeal, smoothies, baking goodies or cooking food, and possibly thousands of other recipes.
Itβs an awesome substitute for dairy milk if youβre not able to drink dairy milk.
